Elevated calcium in the blood is a very insidious disease. No signs for months, even years in younger patients. Moreover, the findings are quite low. Weakness, fatigue, pains in the entire body, especially in the arms and legs, are complained about.
Since these symptoms can be seen in many diseases, it is also difficult to diagnose patients. Together with this, patients find it difficult to explain their complaints to the people around them. They may even be considered “heartsink.”
Perhaps the most concrete finding of high calcium in the blood is that the patient drops kidney stones or spills kidney sand. However, this does not occur with every patient.
Although it gives very general symptoms, it is quite easy to diagnose high calcium in the blood. A check of the blood for calcium and parathormone is usually sufficient to establish the diagnosis.
